Frank Schaar is the new CEO

of Deutsche Rück and the Association of German Public Insurers

On 21 February 2018 the Supervisory Boards of Deutsche Rückversicherung AG and the Association of German Public Insurers (VöV) appointed Frank Schaar (57) as Chief Executive Officer of both companies with immediate effect. Schaar has been Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the companies in the group of public insurers since March 2010. At the start of 2011 he also became Managing Director of DR Swiss, a subsidiary of Deutsche Rück.

“We are looking forward to continuing our successful working relationship with our trusted colleague Frank Schaar,” affirmed Hermann Kasten, Chairman of the joint HR Committee of the two companies. Schaar began his career in 1982 at E+S Rück, where he was responsible for non-life business with German shareholder companies until 1997. From 1998 to 2000 he was a member of the extended Executive Board and Head of Non-life Business and Underwriting Operations at Hannover Rück in Asia, Australia and Africa. In 2000 he became CEO of Converium Deutschland AG and in 2001 was appointed to the Global Executive Committee of Converium Holding AG. Schaar became a member of the Executive Board of Saxum AG in Saarbrücken in September 2008. In March 2010 he was then appointed to the Executive Board of Deutsche Rückversicherung AG as Chief Underwriting Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer.
