Deutsche Rückversicherung AG is probing the ideas and expectations of the digital generation. The Düsseldorf-based reinsurer, jointly with startup incubator STARTPLATZ and its partners ECODYNAMICS and Protostart, will be holding a Disrupt.me!® day on 6 June 2018. Startup founders, students and innovators will examine and rethink the concept of cover for biometric risks.
Under the motto “Disrupt.Life Insurance!”, startups, people interested in founding a business and students will have the opportunity to engage with one of the main sectors of the insurance industry during the event, which will take place over one day with professional coaching as part of InsurTech Week from 4 to 9 June in Cologne. Participants will get help from ECODYNAMICS expert Hamidreza Hosseini and specialists from Protostart, who design and support constructive, crowd-based methods and processes with STARTPLATZ.
The ideas of participants at the Disrupt.me!® day will be applied to those areas where they believe established insurers face challenges. They will examine changing customer needs and the expectations of Generations Y and Z – Digital Natives or Millennials – and identify potential weaknesses of traditional products. In this way, existing concepts can be analysed selectively and looked at from a new perspective, modified, reshaped or even replaced by new concepts. Participants will work competitively in teams. The winning team will have the chance to develop its ideas further as part of a three-month accelerator programme at STARTPLATZ with mentoring from Deutsche Rück. ECODYNAMICS and Protostart will offer the winning teams free advice and workshops.
“We want to learn from the customer’s perspective where the weaknesses of current solutions for biometric risks lie and how offers can better meet customer expectations,” says Frank Schoenen, jury member and head of Life/Health Product Management at Deutsche Rück. “Open and honest feedback will therefore not only be permitted but also actively encouraged at our Disrupt.me! event.”
